This
is a really beautiful bonded pair of macaws.
They have been surgically sexed &
are both in excellent health & breeding
condition. I don't really want to sell
them, but am short breeding cages for
all of my pairs, and have decided to downsize
instead of adding on. They live outside
in an unheated patio aviary & are
acclimated to the Pacific Northwest climate.
The hen tends to be aggressive and will
chase you if you come near the cage. The
Catalina macaw male has a gentle nature
and is more laid back then her. Recently,
since the weather warmed, the Catalina
male's upper chest, under his neck, has
become a little plucked. They have been
mating lately, so it is most likely do
to the hormonal changes that take place
at the beginning of breeding season. See
pix below. If the hen ends up in the nestbox
on eggs soon, I am not going to sell them
until sometime later.
